Dr. Rowan said the meniscus doesn't repair itself because cartilage
does not have a blood
supply. It receives is oxygen and nutrients from the synovial fluid
that baths the joints.
Nutrition must migrate in through osmosis.
Very good results have
been obtained by injection ozone directly into the joint. Ozone is a very
active
form of oxygen and it
stimulates cartilage growth and can stimulate damaged articular
cartilage back to reasonable function. The meniscus is a piece of cartilage between the femur
and
tibia, not on the bone
surface. Another approach is growth hormone which also stimulates
cartilage growth. Combine Ozone, growth hormone and prolotherapy for knee problems
have had wonderful results according to my colleagues.
"According to reports I
have received, prolotherapy has helped knee mechanics almost no
matter the underlying
problem".

A 74 year
old woman was largely crippled due to severe degeneration of her knees. Her
orthopedic surgeon recommended immediate joint replacements. She elected to try
RIT/Prolotherapy first, and after a few injections she regained functions of her knees enough to delay
the surgery for five years.
In a study reported in the Journal of Spinal Disorders in 1993,
researchers injected knee joint ligaments of human
subjects with either a prolotherapy solution or a placebo. The
subjects receiving the prolotherapy
treatment showed an increase in activity and a reduction in pain.
And in yet another study, Gustav A. Hemwall, M.D., surveyed several patients who received prolotherapy and
found that 75.5 percent of them
reported complete recovery with 24.3 % reporting general
improvement.

Remember to do warm-up and stretch exercises before playing any
sport. This will
usually prevent joint and muscle problems.
